South Africa World Cup

The 2010 World Cup will help me fulfill a few life goals…1st off my borrowed motto from my friend Fabian that “i will go to every World Cup from here on out”.  During this trip I will knock out a few more….quick itinerary of our trip:

Our group:

  • Dave “Schif/Sherbet/Schurbit/Surebet/Enzo” Schifrin – former Fram soccer teammate who now calls Scottsdale home.  known for his long throw-ins, inability to not slip & desire for debate
  • Brian “China Doll” Mackerer – current Fram soccer teammate who came out of retirement despite 1000’s of injuries, a marriage & a little baby-girl.  Super Sweeper as I call him was a surprise participant for this trip but finally committed to join the adventure
  • Ceara – The Girlfriend as she is known to Schif…our 1st meeting will be in Durban on June 12th but I feel like I’ve known her for years just by her being on our planning emails…looking forward to learning her yoga skillz
  • Brody – Schif’s college buddy who resides in Abu Dhabi and will be joining us a few days into our trip

The itinerary:

  • Schif & Ceara hit the Dark Continent via Dubai a few days before the rest of us to hit Kruger National Park
  • June 9th:  Brian & I fly out of LA that night…me via London on Virgin Atlantic, him via Dubai on Emirates.
  • June 11th:  BMack & I arrive in Johannesburg & immediately jump on a plane to Durban, pick up our VW mini-van & check in to our B&B in Uhmlanga (pronounced Uhm-shlanga) just north of Durban city center on the beach.  our B&B –

  • after this adventure and hopefully having seen the Big 7 (Southern Right Whale & Great White added in…plus if i get to see a Nile Croc in KwaZulu Natal that will make my Big 8 ) we drive back to Cape Town and check into our sweet apartment right in town (
